About

John is a self-taught artist from St. Louis, Missouri. From a young age John was building forts in the woods and drawing bridges and city skylines from his imagination. John's love for drawing and building things brought him to pursue undergraduate studies in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas. After years working in engineering, architecture, and construction, John returned to studies in a post-graduate architectural program called Building Beauty in Sorrento, Italy. During this program John started drawing the historic architecture all around him in Italy and then in Spain. This led John into the practice of plein-air (outdoor) painting where he has found his focus working in oils. John's practice has a heavy emphasis on drawing and a tonal understanding of color. John currently resides in New Orleans.
